Battle of egos
NKHABA- Residents of Nkhaba are living in frustration following what they described as a ‘battle of egos’ between Attorney General, Majahe-nkhaba Dlamini and Swazi TV Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bongani ‘Sigcokosiyanci-nca’ Dlamini.
These two men, who occupy different important positions in the country, belong to two warring factions in the protracted chieftaincy dispute in the area.
Their differences have also led to violence and eviction threats allegedly by factions loyal to either of them in the area.
Both the AG and the television CEO belong to the Nkhaba Royal Kraal of Prince Bhekimpi who died in the late 90s.
The late Bhekimpi was Majahenkhaba’s father while Sigcoko’s father was Giyase. Bhekimpi and Sigananda were from the same family tree.
Today, however, Majahe-nkhaba and Sigcokosi-yancinca do not see eye-to-eye due to the chieftaincy dispute which is currently at play.
Majahenkhaba is said to be heading a splinter group which allegedly conducts its business under a tree, just outside the royal kraal.
Sigcokosiyancinca, on the other hand, also heads his own faction, which conducts its business on the premises of the royal kraal.
There is now ‘those on the inside’ and ‘those on the outside’ at Nkhaba. Sigcokosiya-ncinca’s faction is said to be in the inside while Majahenkha-ba allegedly heads the faction on the outside.
Fresh allegations have emer-ged that due to their differences, the entire community has degenerated into a den of violence, with threats of eviction for some families becoming a common language.
Frustrated residents have come out to claim that the differences between the two, was nothing more than a battle egos. They said eviction threats and violence have become the order of the day in the community.
One faction has threatened to evict members of the other as the continued ‘bad blood’ between the AG and the CEO intensifies. Homesteads are burnt, people assaulted and women are harassed due to the prevailing scenario.
When the Swazi News visited the community this week, most residents confirmed that they had been threatened with eviction from the area for failure to pay allegiance to either of the warring factions.
"We have been told to leave the area or else face eviction after the Incwala. They say we have khontaed illegally. My family has lived in this area for over 20 years and I do not understand why we are suddenly told to leave. We do not support any of the fighting factions and that is why we are being told to leave," said Lungile Mavuso of Nkhaba.
Another resident who asked not to be identified for fear of reprisals said the situation was no longer rosy in the area following the ‘bad blood’ between the two Dlaminis.
"We do not even know where to conduct the customary kuhlehla anymore because of the existence of these two groups. It is confusing. Now there are threats of evictions because we do not perform kuhlehla, but we are confused," he said.
Senior aunts found at the royal household on Tuesday confirmed the existence of two factions, within the household, led by the two influential men.
They further confirmed that as a result of the division, the community itself was now living in frustration amid threats of eviction from the area.
"It is also true that there are people who will have to leave the area because they khontaed illegally due to the ongoing division within the household. However, it is better that you talk to the indvuna," said one of the aunts while pleading to remain anonymous.
The Indvuna of Nkhaba, Dikida Shabangu confirmed that there were people who were going around threatening residents with eviction from the area.
He, however, denied that these people were from the royal kraal and referred to them as tinhlanya temango (community lunatics).
Shabangu said, to his kno-wledge, nobody was allowed to evict people from the area since there is currently no chief.
He, however, disclosed that there were ‘unknown people’, in the area who would have to be evicted once a chief had been installed.
He said these ‘unkno-wn people’ had khon-taed illegally. Between the two existing facti-ons, we asked him which one he belonged to and he said: "Singekhatsi tsine nabo Sigcoko."
Shabangu boldly declared that he was the Induvuna Yemcuba of the area, having been put into the position by the late Prince Bhekimpi.
Who is Sigcokosiyancinca?, asks AG Majahenkhaba
NKHABA - Attorney General Majahenkhaba Dlamini, who stands accused of meddling into the chieftaincy affairs of Nkhaba, says he has nothing to lose.
While admitting that there were two factions within the Nkhaba Royal Kraal, the AG denied that he was the leader of any of the warring factions.
He said he was not aware of any battle of egos between himself and Bongani ‘Sigcokosiyancinca’ Dla-mini, the Swazi TV CEO. "I know kutsi kunetinkinga lekhaya and I am also aware that there are now factions, but it is not true that I am a leader of any group. I do not lead any faction because I stand to lose nothing," he said.
Asked to specifically address the issue of an apparent battle of egos between himself and Sigcoko, he said: "What battle of egos? I have no ego. I know there are people with egos at Nkhaba, but I am not one of them. The problem we have is that there are people who are still fighting for recognition. I am not fighting for any recognition. Who is Sigcokosiyancinca, if I may ask? Where does he come from? We do not know him and his libandla," he said emphatically.
On another note, he disowned Indvuna Dikida Shabangu."To our knowledge, Dikida is not an Indvuna yemcuba but indvuna yemajaha. He is not being honest when he says he was installed as indvuna yemcuba by my father. The indvuna we know died and there is currently no indvuna yemcuba at Nkhaba," he said.
He expressed regret that a majority of Nkhaba residents have now been thrown into a state of confusion as a result of the prevailing scenario.
"I know that most residents are frustrated by what is going on and it is unfortunate. This whole thing is being perpetrated by people who talk too much and are dying to get recognition they do not deserve. We hope emabandla will resolve the matter amicably since it was removed from court," he said.
Who is Majahenkhaba? - Sigcokosiyancinca
NKHABA - "Even if I was interested in fighting anyone, I would not fight Majahenkhaba.
Who is Majahenkhaba? What position does he hold? The answer is, he holds no position whatsoever. Why would I fight him?"These were the words of Swazi TV CEO Bongani ‘Sigco-kosiyancinca’ Dlamini when asked to explain the differences between himself and the AG which have allegedly frustrated residents of Nkhaba.
Dlamini said he was not interested in fighting anyone because his position in the Nkhaba Royal Kraal was known, yet on the other hand, the Attorney General Majahenkhaba had none.
He said his position allowed him to give direction with regard to the processes to be followed when installing the next chief of Nkhaba.
When asked to specify what his apparent position was within the royal kraal, he declined and said Indvuna Dikida Shabangu would be in a better position to explain it.
Shabangu, on the other hand, declined to specify the position held by Sigcokosiyancinca, claiming he was not comfortable discussing issues of Nkhaba in the media.
When requested to state which faction he belonged to since there were now two of them, the CEO said: "I belong to the Nkhaba Royal Kraal, not a faction. Ask the people of Nkhaba what my position is."
He wondered why the AG would claim that he and his libandla were unknown in the area.
Sigcoko then said to his knowledge, no genuine residents of Nkhaba were frustrated because they know the ‘truth’ about everything relating to the royal kraal.
He then asked not to comment further on the issue.
"Listen, I have a job at Swazi TV. Please allow me to do it in peace. I have no business fighting people about Nkhaba issues because everything is clear. The only problem is that we have people who like complicating things because they think they have certain positions, which they unfortunately they do not have," he said.
COMMENTS:
- The two gentlemen are out to disgrace themselves here. And for each of them to ask who the other one is just tells me these people are not even fit to be looked upon by the Nkhaba people as leaders. Shameful state of ffairs these, baphi bo anti to drum some sense on these two men that are out to embarass themselves here. Shasmeful for educated men like these two..mhmm.
