Technology parks offer better solutions, says king
DAR ES SALAAM, TANZA-NIA – Swaziland can anticipate quicker and better solutions to its social and economic challenges once the Bio-tech, Science and Technology Parks are fully operational.
His Majesty the King said the parks being constructed at Bethany, would provide the country the opportunity to elevate science, research and development on the local political agenda.
The King was speaking in his opening remarks as moderator for the first session on day two of the ongoing Smart Partnership International dialogue in Tanzania.
The theme of the dialogue is; ‘Leveraging technology for socio-economic transformation, the smart partnership way’. His Majesty said the National Development Strategy, Vision 2022, identifies technology as a leverage for development. “Public service delivery has also been enhanced through the introduction of E-government. For business, the red tape has been cut to acceptable international standards,” he said.
“The ongoing construction of the bio-technology, Science and Technology Parks will also enhance our national objective of developing institutions of science and research. “These developments will enable us to mitigate our national challenges which affect several sectors of our society such as agriculture, health and unemployment,” His Majesty said. He applauded all smart partners for adopting the smart partnership spirit by openly sharing their secret to their successes in national development initiatives, especially through technology. On day two, Smart partners engaged the subject of smart inclusivity strategies for leveraging technology through quality and standards.
