MBABANE - With slightly over three weeks left before the set deadline, close to 20 000 users of prepaid electricity have updated their personal details.

The Swaziland Electricity Company (SEC) is in the process of upgrading  its three-year-old prepayment system to ensure improved and more reliable service delivery to customers.
According to the Corporate Communications Manager Sifiso Dhlamini, SEC’s domestic and small business customers are actively participating in the upgrade exercise. Dhlamini indicated that most of the customers were using the company website and call centre.

‘Customers are urged to bring forth their personal details so they can have updated information. This will go a long way in enhancing reaction time to customer queries and complaints and also in providing top of the range service.
Dhlamini emphasised that all the over 122 000 active prepaid users should update their details before the August 31, 2013 deadline to avoid being unable to buy units.

“We will be saddened by a situation whereby some of our customers will be unable to purchase units after having failed to update their details before the set deadline, ” Dhlamini said.
He  said the other important objective of the exercise was to ensure accuracy of information in the SEC database.
An SEC team comprising officials from Corporate Communication, Marketing and Information Technology has been visiting local schools to sensitise pupils to remind their parents about this all-important exercise. Among the schools visited is Mbabane Central High, St. Mark’s High and St. Francis High.

As the deadline is fast approaching, electricity consumers are encouraged to do their updates through their nearest SEC regional centres, service centres, revenue offices or depots. They can also log onto the SEC website www.sec.co.sz/update/ or call the company’s Call Centre on 800 9000 (when using landlines) or 2508 3333 (when using cellphones).
