MBABANE – A horrific traffic accident claimed the life of Mbabane socialite Takhona ‘TK’ Zwane on Saturday night.

The deceased was employed by the Royal Swaziland Sugar Corporation (RSSC), where she was Section Clerk.
RSSC Corporate Communications Manager Sifiso Nyembe confirmed her death.
“We send our deepest condolences to the family and employees of RSSC.

“We have been dealt a severe blow,” Nyembe said.
Social networking site Facebook was abuzz with news of ‘TK’s death and many sent their condolences to her family and friends.
A four-year-old child was also killed in the accident that occurred at Mhlume.
‘TK’, according to her sister Sithembile, died on the spot while the minor died in hospital.

It is reported that there were five people in the vehicle and the driver, who has been identified only as Nqobile, sustained minor injuries while her mother is said to be currently admitted to a hospital in Nelspruit, South Africa, in critical condition.
“TK was seated in the front passenger seat when the accident occurred.

“We have been told that they were trying to overtake a truck from Cargo Carriers but they then realised that there was an oncoming vehicle, hence they tried to go back to their lane.
“However, their vehicle slammed against the truck and TK was killed instantly,” Sithembile said.
She said even the vehicle’s airbags could not save her sister’s life because when the car slammed against the truck, it had its left side ripped open and left ‘TK’ exposed.

Injured

“There was just no way she could have survived the accident because she was badly injured on the head.
“Nqobile’s mother was also seated at the left hand side of the rear passenger seat, hence she is in critical condition. It appears that the child who died was also seated next to her.”

Sithembile said she had spoken to ‘TK’ a few minutes before the accident, which is why she was shocked when she received a call later informing her of the fatal accident.

“TK called me to say that they were leaving Tshaneni for Mhlume and minutes later I got a call from one of her friends telling me that she was dead.
Meanwhile, Police Public Relations Officer Superintendent Wendy Hleta also reported that a 36-year-old man from Zimbabwe has been charged with culpable homicide after the car he was driving overturned, resulting in the death of a passenger.

The accident happened on Sunday afternoon along the Big Bend-Mndobandoba public road.
The deceased is a 26-year-old man from Big Bend.
