Dibanisa to be laid to rest on Sunday

MBABANE – Dibanisa Mavuso, the late Governor of Nsuka Royal Residence, will be buried on Sunday.
This was confirmed by a close family member yesterday.

Mavuso, whose other name is Phillip, will be laid to rest following a vigil at his home at Mbekelweni in the Manzini region.
The governor is said to have died of a diabetic related illness last Friday.

Mavuso rose to fame during his time as the acting governor of Ludzidzini Royal Residence in the 90s.
He was feared and respected by many for his no-nonsense kind of approach when dealing with matters at the traditional headquarters.
He had a brush with the law when he was arrested and detained for poaching three impalas on a rest day (kutiliwe) during Butimba (hunting expedition) at Hlane Game Reserve.

Mavuso was fined three cattle and His Majesty subsequently relieved him of his duties as acting Ludzidzini Governor.
Obed Dlamini, the former Prime Minister and now a member of Liqoqo, has described Mavuso as a rare breed.

 “I’ve known Mavuso as a young man as he grew up at Helemisi Farm,” said the former Member of Parliament for Nhlambeni Constituency. “My heart goes out to his entire family and friends during this extremely difficult time. That we’re very close to one another remains a fact.”
Dlamini described Mavuso as someone who was stable-minded, saying he was very gifted on traditional matters.

Mavuso, renowned for his rich cultural background, represented royalty during the funeral of Ludzidzini Governor Jim ‘Mbhokane’ Gama in March 2011.
