Robert Magongo’s mum lashes out at Gelane
MBABANE – Ex-Motshane Member of Parliament (MP) Robert Magongo’s mother, Grace, has lashed out at Senate President Gelane Zwane for likening her son to a dog without a handler.
Zwane made this statement in June this year in response to Robert’s assertion in the House of Assembly that the president was a dictator in Senate.
This was after the House was informed of several amendments which had been made by the Senate on the Senate Elections Bill of 2013.
Robert said it was Zwane who told senators what to do and they had no say in Parliament. The president said she felt insulted, and for that, she said Robert was like a dog without a handler and a total embarrassment to Parliament.
However, the 81-year-old Grace, in an interview on Sunday, questioned Zwane’s nerve of talking about Robert that way. For starters, she said Zwane knew nothing about Robert or his upbringing and had never carried him in her womb for nine months.

“This woman called Gelane, who does she think she is? I tell you, she has not seen the last of my son. In fact she may think that she has got him, but she’s wrong. When I gave birth to Robert I gave birth to a champion, I raised him the hard way because I was making a man out of him,” stated Grace.
She said Zwane must just go home and rest because Robert will not fear her at all.
Grace, a Shembe Church member, claimed that she fasted for a month so that her son could win Saturday’s primary elections.
Because of her belief in prayer and fasting she saw him returning to Parliament to serve another five years.
“I’m proud of my son and what he’s achieved. When I was pregnant with him in 1959 I didn’t know that I was carrying an MP. I raised him with a tough hand, he’s a fighter,” Grace said.
