MBABANE — Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Hlobisile Ndlovu wants the Pigg’s Peak primary elections results nullified.

Ndlovu who is also former Pigg’s Peak Member of Parliament (MP) has as a result written a formal letter of complaint to the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC).

During an interview at the Times offices yesterday Ndlovu confirmed that she had since made her complaint formal.
She alleged that during the elections, which were held last week Saturday, there were many anomalies. Buy Cash Director Jabulani Mabuza won the Primary Elections by an impressive 1 592 votes.

She alleged that some textile workers from Matsapha, Malkerns and Luyengo were ferried to Pigg’s Peak even after 5pm when the polling stations should have been closed.
“I just want the elections nullified and a re-run to be conducted as there was a lot that went wrong,” claimed Ndlovu.
Ndlovu lodged the complaint through her attorneys from Robinson Bertram.

She further alleged that some voters were given preferential treatment by some of the police and polling officers who were on duty last Saturday.
The EBC confirmed that they had received a complaint from Ndlovu.
EBC Public Relations Officer Sabelo Dlamini said they were attending to the matter.

“We can not, however, go into detail of the nature of the complaint and all communication will be made to Ndlovu and her attorneys,” said Dlamini.
On a similar note, another disgruntled candidate stated that independent investigations revealed that one of the aspiring MPs allegedly sourced votes from three textile firms in Matsapha and paid some of the voters at least E400 each to cast their votes in Pigg’s Peak.

It was further alleged that the workers were dropped off by buses at a distance from the polling station and some walked to the polling stations while others used the transport which had been provided by the EBC.
Other complaints were that a campaign agent was nabbed by the police after being found canvassing for votes on behalf of an aspiring MP as he was found with a picture indicating to the voters whom they should choose.

Ndlovu is one of the five cabinet ministers who crashed out of the Primary Elections and the others are Minister of Public Works and Transport Ntuthuko Dlamini, Minister of Agriculture Clement Dlamini, Minister of Education and Training Wilson Ntsha-ngase and Minister of Tinkhundla Administration and Development Rogders Mamba.

The latter two said they had accepted the situation and were ready to move on.
Ndlovu is not the first candidate from the previous parliament to complain of the elections being rigged as former Kwaluseni MP Sibusiso Mabhanisi Dlamini has also run to the courts.
