MBABANE — The Ministry of Public Service will be conducting a head count of civil servants starting next Tuesday until the end of November 2013.

Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Public Service Evart Madlopha said his ministry would be conducting what was called a Skills and Payroll Audit.
Madlopha said they would be visiting each and every civil servant at their workstation.
“The programme was launched by the Prime Minister, Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini in July and on Tuesday September 3, 2013 we will start the programme officially,” said Madlopha.

He said although a head count of the civil servants had already started they were going to take it to a full scale level.
Madlopha said the civil service is believed to be around 38 000 and this exercise would ensure that they get the exact number of the employees. “This is also another way of catching ghost employees because we will physically require to see the employee,” said Madlopha.

Madlopha said the numerators who would be conducting the exercise had already been trained.
He said they would also find out what skills and qualifications the public servants had in order to determine whether they were suitable for that position and see how they could enhance them.
