King pleased with elections turnout
LOZITHA – His Majesty King Mswati III has expressed pleasure at the massive turnout during the first two phases of the elections. His Majesty said he wanted the new Parliament to focus on developing the country.
This, the King said yesterday when receiving a letter of credence from Spanish Ambassador to Swaziland Santiago Miralles at Lozitha Palace.
“I must say that I have been very pleased with the turnout even from the first round of the elections starting from the registration where people turned out in numbers, thereafter during the first round of the elections which has just been completed, which was also very successful and peaceful.
“All the processes were free and fair,” the King said. He further said he was very confident that even the last round of the elections, which will take place on September 20, will be peaceful and successful.
His Majesty also said he hoped that the new Parliament would ‘definitely’ contribute to the programmes the country has undertaken for development in its quest to attain First World status.
Meanwhile, His Majesty also received a letter of credence from Zambia High Commissioner Japhen Mwakalombe. He said the bilateral relations enjoyed by the two countries came a long way.
“It’s very important for Zambia and Swaziland to work together and work out the challenges faced by the two countries to foster development as the countries are SADC members,” the King said.
He said he trusted that Mwakalombe would visit the country’s ministries and communities to be able to identify areas which the two nations could trade on and cooperate.
Mwakalombe said Zambia valued her relations with Swaziland. He urged citizens of the two countries to promote international tourism.
