PIGG’S PEAK RECORDS 100 PER CENT PASS RATE
PIGG’S PEAK – Parents whose children were doing Grade VII in the six primary schools found within this small town have every reason to walk with their heads high.
This comes after all the learning institutions in this town recorded an unprecedented 100 per cent pass rate in the SPC exam.
With a population of less than 8 000 people, the Pigg’s Peak town has gone down into history books under the education ministry for the great effort shown by the teachers in producing such results.
According to calculations done by the Times, it is reflected that 149 pupils sat for the SPC exam in this town. Out of the 149, 20 got merits while 35 got first class passes. About 88 passed with second class while only six got third class.
The six schools that recorded 100 per cent pass rate include the Peak Primary, Pigg’s Peak Central Primary, Rosenberg Primary, Peak Nazarene, Hlanganani Primary and the Light Primary.
Parents who spoke to this publication said they were excited about the results attained by the local schools. They said that it had become a norm that schools situated in urban areas hardly produce good results.
“We have noted that the Pigg’s Peak town has been able to produce 100 per cent pass rate. This is an achievement to the town in general and it is an indication of the kind of teachers that have been posted in the local schools – they are committed to their work,” said Fikile Malaza.
Boy Dlamini said: “We are grateful and we are walking with our heads high because of the quality of pupils that have been produced by the local primary schools.
Dream
“It is every parent’s dream to send his/her child to a best performing school for quality education. It has transpired that any school can be trusted in Pigg’s Peak.”
Meanwhile, Secretary of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers (SNAT) Pigg’s Peak Branch Senzo Mazibuko said the 100 per cent pass rate for local primary schools should be attributed to the commitment and great effort by teachers.
Also praising the pupils for passing, Mazibuko said the schools around Pigg’s Peak town had always given each other healthy competition.
“As Pigg’s Peak SNAT branch we are proud of our pupils. They have really shown character and determination for success. We must also congratulate the teachers for their great efforts in assisting these pupils towards realising their goals in becoming great leaders of tomorrow.
Their effort is much appreciated and we hope their head teachers will appreciate such. The schools around town have always given each other great healthy competition and this has been going on the past few years,” he said.
