SIKHUPHE - Delivering her speech, Sylvia Mthethwa the Lubombo Regional Administrator thanked His Majesty King Mswati III for his vision to have an airport at Sikhuphe, an area under the Lubombo region and pledged that the people of the region would give it their full support.

“The men and women of Lubombo dedicated themselves to ensuring that this prestigious project is completed without any glitches. I am equally happy that the chiefs in the surrounding areas gave their full support.
“We can only thank the people of Lubombo and government for their commitment to see to it that the project is the marvel that it is.  The Lubombo region occupies a special place in the hearts of many.

“Since time immemorial, this region has been identified by the monarchy as suitable for bringing economic transformation in the kingdom. The sugar industries, Big Game Parks, and other projects are situated here,” she said.
Mthethwa said history had it that the first aircraft to land in the country landed in the Lubombo region.

“History further tells us that the first aircraft to land in Swaziland landed in this region. I’m confident that with the support of the monarch and government the Lubombo region will continue to be the torch bearer for economic development of the Kingdom.
The citizens of this great region stand ready to lend whatever support is needed to bring about economic prosperity in the kingdom – be it by contributing pieces of land or providing needed manpower,” she said.
