TOWN WILL BE ESTABLISHED TO SUPPORT AIRPORT
MALINDZA – A town which will support the King Mswati III International Airport will be established, King Mswati III has declared.
The King made this declaration during the opening of the then Sikhuphe International Airport. His Majesty said the town is aimed at supporting the airport and further bring development to the surrounding communities. The communities include those of Mbadlane, Hlane and Malindza.
“After a radius of about five kilometres from the airport, urban structures will be constructed. I, therefore, urge both domestic and international investors to grab this opportunity by investing in the town,” the King proclaimed.
He said a team comprising of community members and experts has already informed him that an area where the town would be developed has been identified.
The King further mentioned that the airport would boost the country’s economic growth through tourist attraction and using the airport as a gateway to the outside world.
He said the country would benefit immensely as it would also accommodate cargo airlines which would import and export goods to regional and international markets.
According to the King, the next step now is the zoning of the area so that development can start as soon as possible.
During the marketing of the airport, it was earlier reported that an international market would be built. Among other structures mentioned by the Swaziland Civil Aviation Authority (SWACAA) was the construction of a hotel that will help in accommodating tourists who would come to Swaziland through the airport and through Lavumisa and Mhlumeni.
