PM OFFERS 12 CATTLE
NKAMAZI – Prime Minister Sibusiso Dlamini yesterday presented 12 well fed cattle as lobola when he officially met his in-laws and relatives, who included MP Marwick Khumalo and Gideon Mahlalela.
Dlamini paid the bride price at Nkamazi, below Mdzimba, in a colourful event spiced by gospel music and sumptuous food prepared by Thokozile Jele of the Ocean Basket Franchise.
The Maziya family was in charge of yesterday’s proceedings.
The family roped in Ocean Basket owner Jele to cook for the prime minister, his relatives, guests and all people who attended the ceremony.
The Times SUNDAY reliably gathered that the mother of Joy Maziya, the prime minister’s fiancée, was guardian for Mahlalela, the former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Swaziland Railway.
She also taught him in Grade One at Lomahasha Central Primary School.
Due to the fact that Mahlalela is a relative to the Maziyas, the Times SUNDAY learnt that he had been busy for the past three days preparing for the lobola ceremony.
He was seated with Joy’s mother, Ruth and other relatives at the marquee where lunch was served.
Also present was MP Marwick Khumalo, a blood cousin to Joy. He occupied the main table alongside MP Mkhosi Dlamini, also a cousin to the prime minister’s fiancée. Khumalo and the prime minister shook hands and posed for pictures.
They talked, laughed and occupied the same table. MP Khumalo, in Parliament, complained that the prime minister had a vendetta against him but Dlamini (prime minister) refuted the assertion.
“I am in jovial mood,” said Mahlalela.
“I am happy to be here and I wish the prime minister and Joy a happy and prosperous matrimonial relationship. I am here to support them as a relative,” he said. MP Khumalo did not have so much words to say except to wish the two lovebirds a happy a matrimonial relationship, so did MP Mkhosi Dlamini and others.
Chief Gija, Chairman of the Elections and Boundaries Commission (EBC), was also present and delivered a speech thanking the prime minister for loving a well-behaved woman.
Gija is also chief of Nkamanzi.
Ncumbi Maziya, EBC commissioner and a relative of Joy’s, also attended the ceremony. Other prominent figures present were Dr Vusi Magagula, Deputy Director of Health Services (Clinical) and Moses Dlamini, a soccer administrator and one of the patrons of Mbabane Highlanders.
He is a neighbour of the Maziya family.
The prime minister is expected to tie the knot next Saturday at Mavuso Trade and Exhibition Centre in Manzini.
