MBABANE – The Minster of Justice and Constitutional Affair, Sibusiso Shongwe, has settled his E1 890 debt with his client.
In addition, the minister further compensated Sibongile Dlamini with an amount of E3 000 for the inconvenience.

The E1 890 in respect of maintenance fees owed to Dlamini for a period of three months, which money was not deposited into Dlamini’s account by the minister’s law firm.
The matter dates back to 2010 when Dlamini engaged Shongwe’s firm to represent her in a maintenance matter. Dlamini won the matter and it was ruled that the father of her two children should pay her.

However, Shongwe’s firm owed a three-month payment to Dlamini yet it was believed that the father of Dlamini’s children had been paying the money.
The minister said he found it proper to bury the hatchet with Dlamini and pay her.
Yesterday, Dlamini met with the minister in his offices in Eveni where a verbal peace binding was made and both parties settled the matter amicably. Shongwe said the matter has been published in the media and at times blown out of proportion.
He said that partly informed his decision to call the complainant and settle the matter.
“The way you react when you are confronted by any situation is what determines your esteem and your failure to react properly is what will determine who and what you will become in the future.
“If I was wiser, I would have handled the matter in a different manner but I was clouded by emotions and anger to receive such news in the media.
“I was supposed to engage my client and hear her complaints in a round table and try to find a way forward regarding the matter.
“The matter was blown out of proportion by the Law Society in that they tussled instead of a proper dialogue with me, hence I reacted otherwise. But for now I am here before you to say I am representing two kingdoms now. The Kingdom of Heaven and that of Swaziland,” Shongwe said.
He said in his duties as a minister, he needed to lead by example. With the intervention of the Holy Spirit, he said he engaged his pastor, Elijah Fakudze from Calvary Worship Centre, to mediate in the matter.
Shongwe said he had lost contact with Dlamini but as he wanted to address the matter he considered looking for her so they could put an end to the matter by settling his debt.
