2 CHILDREN SEE HACKED MOTHER, HANGING FATHER

OTHANDWENI – Two children have lived to tell the tale after their father showed them their mother whom he had killed before finding him dangling from a tree dead.

This was after Jeremiah Mabuyakhulu (56) had just hacked his lover Zinhle Msibi to death with an axe and shovel after allegedly finding her in bed with another man. The man, only identified as a Vilakati is alleged to have bolted naked with a gashing wound on the hand when Mabuyakhulu forced entry into the house where the two had been sleeping.

The incident happened at around 3am on Tuesday in a community known as Maphilingo. Mabuyakhulu, a farm worker, had been left to sleep with their children when Zinhle spent the night at her parental home about 80 metres away with her lover and her 3-month-old child. Hours later she was found with her lover, a family member said in an interview yesterday. The family member said Mabuyakhulu had begun suspecting that his lover was cheating on him until he made the discovery. 

When journalists from this publication visited the Msibi homestead yesterday, relatives were found making preparations for Zinhle’s funeral. Her elder sister Xolile said she, on Tuesday, at around 2am, received a call from Mabuyakhulu calling her to go to their parental home to witness what Zinhle had done.

“He told me to rush home with my father to witness lomhlolo lowentiwa ngusisi. He said we might not  find both of them alive. I called my relatives to inform them about the statements and called Mabuyakhulu back. However, the phone was answered by one of the children who said their mother had been killed. I rushed home with my father in the morning and found the police loading their bodies into a van,” Xolile said.
