MBABANE –The Swaziland Electricity Company (SEC) has restored power supply to the six police residential compounds which had been disconnected due to an unpaid electricity bill of about E8 million.

SEC Corporate Communications Manager, Sifiso Dhlamini could not be drawn to comment on the issue.
“We don’t discuss customer’s issues,” he briefly responded when reached for comment.

People found within the Msunduza police camp confirmed that electricity had been restored following Wednesday’s disconnections.
“Electricity was restored at around 8:30am. So now things are back to normal,” said one of residents of the Msunduza Police Camp.
The officer further said Wednesday had been a terrible day for them as they could neither cook nor iron their uniforms. She was elated by the restoration of power.

Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Wendy Hleta had acknowledged that the Royal Swaziland Police was in arrears with many suppliers, including SEC.
“A number of our police stations are in the dark. We are aware we are in arrears with SEC and other suppliers and the burden we have is that we get funding from somewhere else,” she had said
