THE BRAIN: YOUR KEY TO SUCCESS

It is ironic how times have changed, completely ridiculing many concepts we have carried as the truth for a long time. ‘Education is the key to success’, if a man stood in front of a crowd 10 years ago and uttered these words – even without any enthusiasm or effort, the whole crowd would mumble and heads would shake vigorously in agreement. 10 years later, the notion seems like propaganda and sounds like broken dreams for the population that has chased this education only to find silence siting at the edge of a bench in winter.

Reality

This is the pain staking uncertainty and emptiness of every individual that has worked so hard for an education only to come out of other side to a completely different reality – a competitive market with barely enough space for the most sought jobs. Each day will feel longer than the other when you hold meetings with your certificate, printing it again in hopes to get an interview after you drop it somewhere. Days, then weeks, then months and applications late your education begins to feel like a waste of time.

So it is not farfetched to challenge the idea that education is the key to success in a country that has proven again and again that each to their own. Success is a concept that means different things to different people. For some, it might be career achievements, while for others, it could be building meaningful relationships or living a balanced, fulfilling life. Perhaps education is a key that no longer works – that works only by chance and the human brain has replaced it. How?

Survive

We are in the jungle and only the toughest intellectually will survive with high unemployment, electricity hikes and the list goes on.  Rewiring your brain for success means thinking outside the box and adopting ways outside of waiting for a job to survive. The brain’s power to achieve one of the keys to success is the ability to focus.
The brain has the capacity to perform at a level far beyond what we often realise, but achieving this level of performance requires the ability to tune out distractions and prioritise the task at hand – where to now that my education is sitting idle at the door of success – this is a valid question to ask now.

Skills such as emotional intelligence will carry you through from here on because these social skills are invaluable in the professional world, where collaboration and networking are essential for success. The good news is that emotional intelligence is something you can cultivate. By becoming more self-aware, practicing empathy and learning how to regulate your emotional responses, you can improve your relationships and enhance your overall effectiveness.

These are things you can work on to assist your qualifications in the modern world. This is particularly important because success, in many cases, involves the ability to work with and motivate others—something that your brain, when properly trained, is more than capable of.  It’s the fear of failure, fear of judgment or fear of the unknown, these emotions can paralyse the brain and prevent us from taking the necessary risks to achieve our goals. If the education you have is not helping you now, let your brain sustain you. Building resilience is key to overcoming this challenge.

When you push through fear, whether by starting a new project or pursuing a challenging career path, the brain gradually becomes more comfortable with discomfort. The more you face these fears, the less power they have over you. This process of facing challenges, failing, learning from those failures and trying again is a cornerstone of success, and the brain is wired to adapt and become more resilient over time.

Tool

Unlocking your brain’s full potential the brain is, without a doubt, your most powerful tool when it comes to achieving success. By understanding how it works and leveraging its capacity for growth, focus, emotional intelligence, resilience and adaptability, you can unlock a wealth of opportunities. Success is not just about working hard; it’s about working smart and aligning your brain’s capabilities with your goals. By adopting a mindset of continuous learning, managing your emotions and taking care of your brain and body, you can set yourself on a path toward achieving your highest potential. The brain is not just the key to success; it is the key to shaping the life you desire. If the education you have today is not opening any doors, use your brain.
