BUFFALOS LIFT 2014 SKRUM 7’S TROPHY
MBABANE – Buffalos beat Titans 22-7 to win the 2014 SKRUM 7’s tournament on Saturday at Enjabulweni Sports Ground.
The finals were played 10 minutes each half. The Buffalos defence was solid, as did the Titans, and tries were scarce.
At the close of the first half, it was anyone’s game, with Buffalos going into the changing rooms with a slim 10-7 lead.
The second half was a repeat of the first half with the two sides running from all four corners of the pitch. But it was to be the Buffalos’ day, running in two tries and only managing to convert one.
The finals were played in perfect rugby conditions.
Five teams turned out to play in the SKRUM 7’s tournament to celebrate World Aids Day. They were Buffalos, Titans, Eagles, New Boys and Harlequins.
Last year’s SKRUM 7’s winners, Titans were without a number of key players, but they were confident they could pull off another win this year.
The unknowns this year were the Eagles and the Harlequins.
Both teams included young and inexperienced players. It was both their first outing at a 7’s tournament.
The tournament was a one pool-format with all teams playing each other. All the teams played hard running rugby and the ground was perfect to see the fast players running hard and scoring tries.
