Comeback Taribo'!
MBABANE – MTN League defending champions Mbabane Swallows are getting agitated at being made to wait longer for the clearance fee of striker Mfanafuthi ‘Taribo’ Bhembe who is headed for South Africa’s Jomo Cosmos.
The capital city giants agreed on a E250 000 clearance fee with the Johannesburg based side in August. However, everything has been stalled by the Jomo Sono owned side to deposit the amount into Swallows account as per the agreement. The player left yesterday without the clearance for Johannesburg, South Africa.
The latest unfolds at a time when Manzini Wanderers midfielder Felix Badenhorst was finally cleared on Sunday to the struggling Premier Soccer league side.
The capital giants have been sold a dummy a number of times by Jomo Cosmos over the E250 000 transfer fee of the player, who is still worshipped in the ‘Birds’ nest after inspiring their late surge to the MTN League championship last season.
In a statement released yesterday, the team said they were not even bothered to check if the money has been deposited into their account as promised by Cosmos representative. The two teams long agreed on the figure, but up to this day, nothing has come forth regarding the player’s clearance. Instead he was even registered with the PLS by Swallows on the last day of the transfer window.
“We have lost hope in the whole deal. Cosmos have failed to adhere to our agreement regarding the payment of the transfer fee. We are not even bothered to check in our account anymore. We are actually expecting our player to come back home and play for his team,” reads the statement.
This means that the player has still not been cleared to his new team, despite agreeing personal terms with the Jomo Sono owned side. The same scenario faces Mbabane Highlanders who were also awaiting the clearance fee for right-back Mpendulo ‘Baiano’ Kunene. Highlanders’ PRO Dumisani Sibandze said as far as he was concerned the player has not been cleared.
“He can’t be cleared without them paying a clearance fee. We are still waiting,” he said. All three players; Mfanafuthi Bhembe, Felix Badenhorst and Mpendulo Kunene left the country in the close season for Jomo Cosmos. But they are all yet to feature in an official match this season, following a delay in their clearances, and paper works.
Cosmos have reached an agreement with Wanderers over Badenhorst, whose clearance fee stands at E100 000. The balance would be paid in December.
