OVER E1.2M FOR KING’S GOLF CUP TOURNAMENT
LOZITHA – The sponsorship for this year’s King’s Golf Cup tournament has shot up to over E1.2 million.
Several companies once again joined hands in support of the 11th edition of the tournament to be played between September 3 and 5. Leading the way again was MTN Swaziland which pumped in E350 000. The giant mobile company had given out E300 000 in the past year. The total sponsorship amounted to E1 200 288 yesterday. The presentations were made before His Majesty King Mswati III at Lozitha Royal Palace last night.
Swaziland Posts and Telecommunications Corporation (SPTC) also pumped in a revised E280 000, an increment of E30 000 as compared to last year.
The King, in his address, applauded all the companies that joined hands as he noted that staging such an event cost an arm and a leg.
“Golf in Swaziland continues to grow. The support will go a long a way in meeting the demands of having such an event. More sponsors can still come on board, liaising with the Tourism and Environmental Affairs Ministry,” the King said.
Leading the delegation of sponsors was Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs Jabulani Mabuza, whose company, Buy Cash, donated E25 000. Also coming to the party were Swaziland Electricity Company and Royal Swazi Spa whose sponsorship increased to E150 000 and E125 288, respectively.
The previous year’s funding was slightly above E1.1 million.
