CRICKET U-12S COMPLETE S. AFRICA TOUR WHITEWASH
MBABANE – Cricket Mbabane Under-12 team completed the whitewash on Saturday after beating CBC Boksburg Primary by two wickets.
Starting the day as firm favourites, CBC succumbed to the brilliant bowling attack of Brett Cutting and Hayden Loffler. The pair bagged four wickets in the opening spell with CBC managing only seven runs on the board and surely the match looked like it would be put to bed within an hour.
However, the message from the CBC technical bench to stop the massacre was put to action and as a result the wickets were stopped from falling.
Asandza Vilakati and Ozayo Mamba tried with all their might to strike the woodwork but their attempts proved futile and all they could manage was to keep the run rate low. Brett’s captaincy produced the cutting edge as he brought his leg spinner in the attack as wickets ran dry in Robert James.
Robert brilliantly picked three wickets in one over and left CBC in shambles as they were all out with 62 runs.
Chasing 62 looked an easy task and doable as the opening partnership played cautiously and sensibly. When Hayden was caught at 61/2, CBC had the momentum and pressure was on Mbabane.
CBC picked six wickets without conceding a run and all of a sudden, Mbabane needed 2 runs to win while CBC needed two wickets with the tail Enders in the middle. It only took a good shot through the gap by Fahim Bhaiyat and Mbabane claimed victory.
