MBABANE – Long distance runners can still register for one of the country’s most lucrative athletics competition, the FSRA Marathon.

The second instalment of the championship headlined by the 42.2km event has a E50 000 purse. It will be staged around Lobamba on September 10. The starting point will be the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) Technical Centre at 6am. Runners, according to a statement, can still seek admission. Those registering before August 26 will get goodie bags.

One of the coordinators, Mbuso Gamedze, urged companies to bring bigger contingents of athletes as there was also a 10km race to accommodate slow runners who just needed to keep fit.

“Registration forms can also be downloaded on our website, www.fsra.co.sz,” said Gamedze.
Zimbabwe’s Charles Soza prevailed in the past year, clocking a golden time of 02:29:69 hours.

He walked away with E5 000 in cash. Gamedze said the prize breakdown for this year’s event would be confirmed in due course.
Entry fee for the marathon is E120. Those participating in the 21.1km and 10km will fork out E70 and E50, respectively. Registration can also be done through visiting the FSRA offices at Ingcamu Building in Mbabane.
