LOBAMBA – The Swaziland Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (SOCGA) has tabled a budget of E919 610 for its staff salaries for the current financial year, 2017.

This is despite spending a rather low but whopping E580 956 on staff wages in the past financial year. Before being elected president of the organisation in Sunday’s General Assembly held at OlympAfrica Sports Development Centre, Treasurer Peter Shongwe tabled the E919 610 budget for the 2017 financial year specifically for employees’ remuneration. Shongwe explained that SOCGA owed its Secretary General Muriel Hofer gratuity for the past recent years and also improved salaries for the ever growing staff members at the Olympic Movement.

The organisation hired Nhlanhla Dlamini as Finance Officer and Samukelo Mhlanga as Project Officer as announced in the previous General Assembly. Secretary General Hofer revealed in her report that the SOCGA offices which are situated at Mbabane Industrial Site’s Kwik-Fit building were renovated not only to accommodate the new staff but to also give more space for members to be able to expose their membership and athletes to the Olympic Movement.
