SMVAF INGWENYAMA CUP PRESENTATION ON SUNDAY
MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows are set for a double celebration this coming weekend if they beat visiting Orapa United in the CAF Confederations Cup second leg on Saturday.
The team will, on the following day, be officially handed the lucrative E1.2 million cheque for winning the second edition of the Ingwenyama Cup.
Swallows beat Young Buffaloes 1-0 in the finals of the lucrative tournament to defend the title and take home the E1.2million first prize money. Ingwenyama Cup Chairman Johannes Siboza confirmed the presentation date yesterday.
“The time and venue of the presentation is yet to be confirmed but the event is on Sunday. The presentation will mark the end of the second edition of the tournament and all information concerning the venue and time will be communicated to all stakeholders concerned tomorrow (today),” he said.
Young Buffaloes are set to pocket the second prize of E500 000 while semi-finalist Tambuti FC and Manzini Sundowns will each receive E200 000.
During the prize presentation, all eyes will be on the player of the series award where the winner will take home a lucrative E15 000. The top goalscorer award will be awarded to Moneni Pirates striker Mfanfikile ‘Fash’ Ndzimandze who will earn E10 000 after scoring seven goals in the tournament despite his club being knocked out in the quarter-finals.
Mbabane Swallows host Orapa United on Saturday in the second leg match having won 1-0 away in Francistown, Botswana in the CAF Total Confederations Cup.
