GO CONQUER LIKE ‘BIRDS’, NATCOM TELLS LEOPARD
MBABANE – National Commissioner of Police Isaac Magagula has called upon Royal Leopard to emulate Mbabane Swallows’ heroic win over Orapa when they face AS Vita in the Total CAF Champions League second leg match on Saturday.
Magagula, who is the President of the police side, said if Swallows were able to win 1-0 away in Botswana, there was nothing stopping Leopard to do likewise.
Leopard goes to the match having lost 0-1 at Somhlolo National Stadium on Saturday.
“Don’t allow your opponents to do as they please. Leopard are going to DR Congo to face tough opponents who are leading 1-0 after the win here at home last week. We are going to DRC as an army going for war, to protect our name and fly the flag of the country sky high. Swallows have done it under tough conditions and Leopard can do it too. Nothing can stop them and we believe that they will come back heroes,” he said.
Leopard are leaving tonight for Johannesburg where they will spend the night before connecting to DR Congo tomorrow morning. They are expected to arrive in Kinshasa in the afternoon.
Magagula bid farewell to the team yesterday at the Police Headquarters in Mbabane where top officials, players and other officers were present. The team is expected to also bid farewell to the Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs before departure.
The Sifiso ‘Nuro’ Ntibane-led side will travel with 16 players excluding indisposed midfielder Xolani ‘Papi’ Sikhondze. Leopard face AS Vita on Sunday at 4pm (local time) and they are expected back home on Monday.
“We therefore wish the team a safe trip and we will be expecting to receive them as triumphant heroes on their return to the Kingdom of Swaziland,” he said.
