MBABANE – Youngsters Hayden Loffler and Mukelwa Maziya have been lauded for their tenacity in the Africa Under-14 tournament.

The duo was in South Africa’s High Performance Centre between last Monday and Sunday for the grade 1 event, which was for the best Under-14 players in Africa. Even though the pair could not go past the first hurdle, the dedication and improvement towards the end against top players did not go unnoticed. Hayden and Mukelwa’s scores were 2-6, 4-6; and 1-6, 4-6, in that order.

JTI Coordinator Bruce Gama, who left with the team, was all smiles after the youngsters endured eight matches.
“They need to play more of these tough competitions. We have to go back to the drawing board and work hard and put more hours. As JTI we have to improve the performance of players.

We’re happy the Tennis Association is prioritising development of youngsters. We’re also grateful to parents for working hand in hand with us,” said Gama. In a week or two, the players will know their overall ranking in Africa.
