‘TJOVITJO’ TO MISS FINAL

MBABANE – After all has been said and done, Matsapha gifted defender, Sifiso ‘Tjovitjo’ Maseko, will not face his parent club, Young Buffaloes in tomorrow’s SwaziBank Cup final.

The former Sihlangu versatile defender was loaned to the National First Division top side at the beginning of the current campaign.

Even though there is no clause stopping him from facing the security forces ensemble, he has eventually been withdrawn from the Matsapha match day squad out of respect for the Dominic Kunene-led side.
Matsapha acting CEO, Victor ‘Mavikane’ Dlamini, confirmed the amicable decision between the two parties, saying there were a lot of players in their arsenal to do the required job on the day.
“We had to respect that he was loaned to the team.

“He is a good player and has been part of the team, but we have to move forward. We remain focused,” said the seasoned sports administrator.
The player also confirmed the latest developments, stressing that he accepted the decision, as Buffaloes gave him a chance to resurrect his career at the ‘team of the moment.’
“It would have been good to play, but I had to respect Buffaloes.
“My team is Matsapha now, but if the unthinkable happens I will congratulate Buffaloes,” said the player.

Maseko spent the better part of the previous campaign on the sidelines at Buffaloes due to injuries. He shot to fame at Mbabane Swallows before completing the switch to Buffaloes a few seasons ago. His versatility is giving the side more attacking options as he sometimes plays as a floating full-back. He was instrumental in bringing down holders, Swallows, in the last 16 stage of the SwaziBank Cup.
Buffaloes CEO Sandile Gwebu, in an earlier interview with this publication, had said it was up to the player to make a decision.
