MATSAPHA – Former Premier League of Swaziland outfit Kwaluseni Rebels Football Club aim to go back to the elite league in three years.

The team, which is the oldest existing team in Matsapha as it was founded in 1975, got promoted to the Manzini Super League on Saturday after a 2-0 win over FC Matsapha, a team that sold its name to Matsapha United last season.
Fundo Mabuza, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Kwaluseni Rebels, said the team was currently under the leadership of youthful management and had a squad whose average age is 22 years.

He said when they took over the team as management when the past season began, they were given five years to take the team to where it belongs; the Premier League of Swaziland. “However, with the energetic youthful squad we have, we have given our selves three years to go back to the Premier League, starting from the 2017/18 campaign.”
He said as they compete for promotion in the Super League next season, they would remain focused as they were in the past campaign. He said they were aware that they might play in tournaments like the SwaziBank Cup where other teams in the elite leagues spot talented players and go after their signatures.

“Those teams should know that our players are committed to achieving our goal of going back to the Premier League, so they will not leave us.”
He urged them not to dare disrupt the team by trying to lure their players while competing for promotion in the 2017/18 campaign at Super League and 2018/19 season at National First Division.
On another note, Mabuza invited the Kwaluseni Rebels family; fans, former players and sponsors to support them in order to achieve the goal.

Kwaluseni Rebels played in the Premier League of Swaziland in the mid-1980s where current Kwaluseni Member of Parliament (MP) Mkhosi Dlamini was a player. They were then relegated to the National First Division, Manzini Super League and Kwaluseni Promotion League. Over the years, they have gained promotion to the Super League several times but failed to cope and end up relegated back to the Promotion League.
