MBABANE – It was total football.
There were eye-catching skills coupled with great goals in the City Futsal League match between Maphila against Habibi.
Maphila United forward William Kunene shone on the night banging a second half hat-trick to help his side earn a vital point against Habibi in the 10-goal thriller.
The interesting clash was the toast of the night at the Mbabane Portuguese Club on Wednesday.
The result, however, did little to change the log standings for both teams, but surely players from the two sides went home satisfied with the effort they put in.
Maphila retain top spot with seven points and Habibi maintained second place with the same number of points but have an inferior goal-difference.
It was rather a game of two halves as both sides had a fair share of the spotlight in the two stanzas. Despite Maphila breaking the deadlock through Sicelo Ceku just two minutes into the game, Habibi levelled matters a minute later and further scored three more goals to prove their dominance in this half.
Andrew Forbes, Mdumiseni Masuku and Zweli Sibandze were all on target for Habibi. Forbes cancelled Ceku’s 1-0 deficit to make it 1-1 when the game was three minutes old.
Habibi midfielder Mdumiseni Masuku made it 2-1 in five minutes.
Zweli Sibandze also netted a hat-trick. He was on target on 18, 19 and 29 minutes.
The game went into the breather with Habibi on the driver’s seat leading 4-1.
After resumption, the hosts stole the show as they came back strong with William Kunene being the hero. He dribbled past through the opposition defenders before unleashing a low shot to reduce the deficit to 4-2 in the 26 minutes.
Things went from better to worse for the hosts as Habibi pulled one more through their star boy Zweli Sibandze just three minutes later.
However, that did not dampen Maphila’s spirit but made them to pick up the pieces and they scored the three goals to make it 5-all. Siwakhile ‘Magaiva’Vilakati pulled one back just six minutes before full time. Golden boy William scored two quick goals in succession to ensure the log leaders maintained their top spot.
On another interesting match, FSRA recorded their first win against City Office Machines in an 8-4 triumph to jump to third spot.
