‘SWAZIBOLT’ STUNS TOP SA ATHLETE IN BERLIN
MBABANE – The country’s fastest man Sibusiso ‘SwaziBolt’ Matsenjwa is making waves in Germany.
The Royal Swaziland Police (RSP) sprinter is attending a training camp in Berlin ahead of the World Championships to be staged in London, United Kingdom, in August. He won both his 100 and 200 metres events during the Friday meet in 10:35 and 21:00 seconds, respectively.
Matsenjwa did not only equal his personal best and national record in 100 metres, but outpaced South Africa’s sprinter, Anaso Jobodwana, who is a 2015 World Championships bronze medallist. The latter further boasts a personal best of 10:19 seconds in 100 metres.
Matsenjwa was excited to start his camp on a high note.
“It was great start in the Europe competition camp.
“I was happy about the results even though my 200 metres time wasn’t so good,” he said.
At the time of compiling this report, Matsenjwa was expected back on the track for the Sunday meet (yesterday). In the camp, he runs with athletes mainly from the host country.
Meanwhile, the 16th edition of World Championships will run from August 5 to August 13 this year.
