MBABANE – There is life for top cyclists Sifiso Mhlanga outside the sport.

The Inyatsi Swazi Frontier sponsored cyclist has taken up an apprenticeship at Inyatsi Construction since recently passing Form 3 at Lozitha High School.  Inyatsi Construction will train Sifiso to be an auto electrician.

Mhlanga’s heroic performance in mountain biking started when he was noted by the organisers of Inyatsi Swazi Frontier five years ago.  Inyatsi Swazi Frontier Lesley Foss said they started sponsoring Mhlanga in 2013.

“Despite having an old bike and little equipment, at only 17 years old, Sifiso was doing exceptionally well in the local mountain bike races. We offered Sifiso the support he needed to develop his potential and enjoy his cycling more,” she said.

Foss said since that time they started sponsoring him, he had shown great commitment in keeping fit and training. Mhlanga has won most of our local mountain bike races.  He was the overall winner of the National Mountain Bike Series 2015 and was 3rd place in the National Road Bike Series 2015.  He also won the Inyatsi Swazi Frontier mountain bike stage race 2014, making history as the first Swazi ever to do so.

Foss said during all the races and events he participates in, Mhlanga has shown himself to be well-prepared and cool headed.  She described him as a great ambassador for cycling in the country and an excellent role model for young upcoming cycling enthusiasts.
“These qualities have not gone unnoticed by Inyatsi Construction which prides itself on excellence.
