EX-‘BIRDS’ ZAMBIAN COACH TEMBO FOR MALANTI CHIEFS
MBABANE – Promoted side Malanti Chiefs will have a fresh start in the campaign in the elite league under former Mbabane Swallows coach Christopher Tembo.
The Pigg’s Peak-based side will unveil the coach, who is already in the country, next week Monday when the club resume its preseason training.
Tembo was appointed Swallows coach in 2012 before joining Manzini Sundowns. A source close to the matter confirmed that Tembo arrived in the country on Sunday and he will be officially introduced to the players on Monday.
Malanti Chiefs were promoted from the MTN National First Division after one season relegated.
They finished second after Matsapha United. Tembo will take over the reins from another former Swallows coach, Mduduzi Nxumalo.
Malanti Chiefs Public Relations Officer (PRO) Lungile Dube said nothing official has been communicated to her by the Director, Dumisani Gumedze.
“All I know is that there is a Zambian coach who has already arrived in the country and he would be introduced to the club players and officials on Monday when we resume our preseason training. More information will be communicated after we have officially met with the coach,” he said.
Malanti Chiefs will this season host some of their games at Killarney Sports Ground in Pigg’s Peak. The team is yet to meet with the Premier League of Swaziland (PLS) concerning the venue.
