MBABANE – He could not break his personal best, and was quick to blame the decline on his unusual outfit.

Five times in a row winner of the Mbabane Parkrun Nkululeko Gama was slightly over minute slower than his 15:17 minutes time. The Correctional Services runner only managed to finish the five kilometres race in 16:20 minutes, but still he beat the 91 participants who took part in yesterday’s morning run.
“As you may see today, I am wearing a tracksuit, not my usual outfit. Well, I regret choosing this outfit because I had a hard time trying to run in this tracksuit and I believe it worked against me in as far as beating my personal best time,” Gama said.

He further said the reason he could not beat his record time was that it was because of the chilly weather.
Coming second was Zwelithini Mdzebele on 16:21 minutes, interestingly this shows an improvement of 38 minutes as compared to his last week’s time of 16:59 minutes.
Coming third was Swazi Slojos runner Sifiso Vilakati on 16:55 minutes. Vilakati also managed to beat his previous record of 17:01 minutes.
Debbie Hawley reclaimed the top spot in the absence of last week winner Stephanie Dowling in the female category. She finished the five kilometres race in 24:51 minutes bettering her previous record of 25:02 minutes.
