MBABANE – Although Mbabane Swallows bowed out in semi-finals of the Prince Mangosuthu Legacy, they have gained something.

This is according to the ‘Birds’ maestro Njabulo ‘D4D’ Ndlovu who said the tournament did not only help them to prepare for the upcoming season but also gave them an opportunity to rub shoulders with the best players in the continent.
“We bowed out in the semi-finals but we tried our best as a team, we were just unfortunate that we could not score the goals we needed to win the game. Despite losing, we feel we gained a lot of experience as we played seasoned professional players like Siyabonga Nomvethe,” Ndlovu said.

Ndlovu further said they hope to transfer what they have learnt from the tournament to local football.
“It was an eye opener as I have alluded and we appreciate being given the opportunity to play in these kinds of tournaments,” he said.
When asked if he was ready to fill the void left by Papy Kabamba, he was non-committal.

“Look man, I cannot say anything on that as I am just a player here so it’s the coach who decides to field one in a certain position,” he said.
At 39 years old, the former Udinese and Kaizer Chiefs striker Nomvethe, demonstrated that he has not lost any of his predatory instincts, scoring in each half to send Mbabane Swallows packing in the Prince Mangosuthu Legacy Cup in the semi-final played on Sunday at Ulundi Stadium.
