MBABANE – Midas City have distanced themselves from yesterday’s evening proposed press conference which was communicated through the office of the PLS.

Media houses in the country were sent on what turned out to be a wild goose chase press briefing at LaCasserole Restaurant. And upon arrival, Midas City directors comprising Chairperson Innocent ‘Chopper’ Mavuso, Dan Dlamini, Nathi Mazibuko and Bongani ‘Bhanyaza’ Mdluli, said they were in the dark about who convened the meeting without their approval.

Speaking on behalf of the directors, Dan said they also shocked at the news about a press conference said to be convened by the club through the office of the Premier League of Swaziland (PLS).

“We have since decided to apologise to the media on behalf of the club for the sake of our brand. Our stand is clear on the matter; we have followed the football structures. And we are even shocked how the media got to know about our letter because it was supposed to be something between us and the PLS,” he said.

About their game against Vovovo he said, they had not boycotted anything.
Echoing his sentiments was Mdluli, who said the club would not comment on the matter further until they had received a correspondence on their letter from the PLS.

“Actually, we had requested a response by at least 3pm today (yesterday) and even though we have not received it, we will wait and probably once we got it we will then brief the media on the matter,” he said.
