PERFECT WEATHER ON RACE DAY

MBABANE – Imbube Marathon runners will be greeted by a perfect weather on Sunday.

According to the Swaziland Meteorological Services Department, during the start of the event, temperatures will be between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius, and will rise to 27 degrees Celsius during the day.

The Imbube Marathon starts and ends at Somhlolo National Stadium but the 42km competitors will have to go up and down the Malagwane Hill as part of the route.

The high temperatures would mean that athletes should brace themselves for being overly hydrated. At the maximum of 27 degrees celcius and a possible 10 in the morning, it will be cooler for athletes, until maybe later in the morning at about 8am onwards. It would be safe for athletes to bring along fluids and make use of the water stations.

The ideal temperature for a marathon also depends on how fast you are going to run.
Faster runners ought for cooler temperatures. In retrospect, this makes sense, because the faster you run, the more heat your body generates.
Below are tips to prepare one to be ready for any weather conditions.
