‘TT’, PHUMLILE DOMINATE VOTING

MBABANE – Voting for the Sports Star of the Year is gaining momentum. By the close of business yesterday, the total votes had exceeded the 1 000 mark. This is according to the daily update that is posted on the Swaziland Posts and Telecommunication Corporation’s platform, voting.sptc.co.sz.

The internet totals showed that Mbabane Swallows and Sihlangu skipper, Tony ‘TT’ Tsabedze, was on top with 526 votes. In second place was female sprint sensation, Phumlile Ndzinisa with 330 votes .The country’s fastest man, Sibusiso ‘SwaziBolt’ Matsenjwa, netball sharpshooter Jabu Khathwane and taekwondo star, Carlota Munave, complete the top five. The voting lines for the Sports Star of the Year category officially opened last Thursday. This category, which has all the nominated athletes, is decided through public voting.

To vote, the public must buy Umkhululi cards and dial the code of their preferred sports star using payphones. They can also vote online.
The update for the overall votes is expected to be released in due course.
The voting lines will close at 12 noon next Saturday (October 28), which will be the date for the awards gala dinner at Convention Centre in Ezulwini.
The other categories for the awards will be decided by the judges. They include the outstanding junior sportsman, sportswoman, disability sportsman, disability sportswoman. Others are outstanding sports team, coach, leader and association, among others.
