GOLD, SILVER FOR RIDERS
MBABANE – Brave youngster Dylan Kirk has defied odds to become the first Swazi to win the South African National Motocross Championship.
Dlyan, 12, was the champion of the 85CC class during the event staged in the neighbouring country over the past weekend. Winning silver in the same class was the equally impressive Blake Young.
According to a correspondence copied to this publication, it was a nail-biting finish as the two boys fought right to the end.
“They left the South African riders literally in the dust, as they pushed each other to the very top of their sport.
“The season saw these boys race in Port Elizabeth, Cape Town, Pietermaritzburg, Harrismith, Bloemfontein and Johannesburg,” reads the correspondence in part.
Also racing in South Africa was Damon Garrell, who was fourth in the Pro 50cc South Africa National Championship. Timo Toepfer (65CC) and Caleb Young (85CC Pro Mini) also took part and both finished in the top 10 in their respective classes. Various sponsors were lauded for keeping the riders on the bumpy and muddy track in the neighbouring country. They are PKF Swaziland, Rob’s Filling Station, Alternative Energy, Toepfer and Sons, Augusta Enterprises – Castrol, Rad Moto as well as family and friends.
