MANZINI – Home is where the heart is! Former Manzini Wanderers assistant coach Velekhaya Mthethwa is back at the hub giants barely a year after leaving the team during the 2015/16 season.
He was assistant coach to current Sihlangu assistant coach Anthony Mdluli.

He joined Wanderers after a stint with Umbelebele Jomo Cosmos in 2015.
Mthethwa has been roped in as assistant coach to Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe.
This was confirmed by Manzini Wanderers CEO Pat Mahlalela yesterday.

“It is true he has rejoined the team. We have been without an assistant coach since the start of the season. We felt we needed someone to help the head coach and ‘Nyanga’ recommended Velekhaya Mthethwa,” Mahlalela said.
He further said as management, it was their task to take the team back to where it belongs.

“Look, Wanderers is a big team, we play to win trophies not to add numbers in the league. We do hope he will add value to the team. We believe they will work for the betterment of the team with the technical bench,” he said.
Mahlalela also revealed their physical trainer Clement Mdluli would not be present during the game against Matsapha United.

“Before our loyal supporters jump into wrong conclusion, lets me hasten to state that Clement will be attending a traditional ceremony at his parental home; thus he will not be part of the technical bench against Matsapha. He will miss only this weekend’s game, otherwise he will back in our next game,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mthethwa said he was happy that Wanderers management have shown confidence in him.
“I am humbled and honoured to be back at Wanderers again. I was here in the 2015/16 season and I had a good working relationship with the technical bench.

“I am here to help the team achieve their goal. I am honoured to be working with a seasoned coach like Nyanga ‘Crooks’ Hlophe, who has worked at national team level. I am hoping to learn from him,” Mthethwa said.
