MHLUME – Mhlume tennis player Vusi Tsabedze was the ‘Wiseman from the East ‘when he shone above his peers to win the RSSC U-16 one day tournament on Saturday.

The 16-year-old cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Lindokuhle Magutjwa in the finals.
Tsabedze reached the finals after seeing off Fisokuhle Dlamini and Fezokuhle Mavuso in the round robin while Magutjwa beat Sizolwethu Methula to reach the finals.

In the Boys Under-12, Nkosephayo Siwela reigned supreme while Sakhizwe Malindzisa won the Girls Under-12 category.
The one day tournament was hosted by RSSC Tennis Club at Mhlume courts where close to 20 juniors defied the rains to play.

The tournament organiser Gabisile Mkhabela said they were happy that the juniors were able to play despite the pouring rains.
“It was a good day for Mhlume tennis club juniors as they had a tough time in the court.

This is the begging and we are hoping to host more tournaments in the future. Our aim is to see the sport of tennis being players,” she said.
Mkhabela was assisted by the JTI coordinator Bongani Kunene to officiate in the tournament.
