MBABANE – As the Esibayeni Lodge Under-17 League returned to action yesterday at Manzini Club with two big derby matches, joy and shame was the order of the day.

It was joy for the winning sides and shame for the losers. Moneni Pirates were up against city rivals Manzini Wanderers while Young Buffaloes clashed head-on with their forces rivals Green Mamba. Pirates opened their league season with a remarkable 2-0 win while Buffaloes recorded their second win in two games with a 3-0 bashing of Green Mamba. Both Pirates and Wanderers were having their first game after they could not play over a month ago when they were fixtured due to incomplete registration which was only resolved last week by the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS).

Army side Buffaloes surged to the top of the standings, dislodging rookies Matsapha United on goal difference and level on six points. Matsapha face Tambuti today in a game they must win to retain the summit. In another game yesterday in the same venue as the two derby games, police outfit Royal Leopard lost to Manzini Sundowns with a 2-1 scoreline. Four more games get underway today at Somhlolo National Stadium.
