MBABANE – Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa started the year 2018 on a high note as he beat South Africa’s top sprinter Anaso Jobodwane.

The 29-year-old Royal Swaziland Police (RSP) athlete clocked 20:92 seconds while Jobodwane recorded 20:96 seconds in the AGN League 200m senior men on Saturday at Pilditch Stadium in Gauteng, South Africa.
Despite that the duo was competing in different events, Matsenjwa came four mini-seconds better than the South African. Matsenjwa said this was a good start to the year and he is happy that he clocked personal best for the year in both events.

Matsenjwa’s performance was also far better than Africa 400m champions Nicholas Bett from Kenya.
He also competed in the 100m where he came behind Jobodwane on 10:36 second while the South African won the event on 10:32 seconds.
“It was a good performance for me and it has given me the courage to work harder. It is important that I start the year on a high note,” he said.
The Athletics Association of Swaziland (AAS) Secretary Thoba Mazibuko also gave praise to Matsenjwa.

“It is a very good start for the season and its promising that he is going to the Commonwealth Games in Australia in April,” he said.
Matsenjwa is expected to take to the track tomorrow for the second IAAF Indoors World Championships qualifiers billed for the Mavuso Sports Centre tomorrow.
