FA’S E2M SIHLANGU ALLOCATION BOOST!
MBABANE – Even before the recently announced E13.7 million Sihlangu budget allocation is dished out, the FA has received E2 million from government for the national team’s upkeep.
The amount is part of the 2017 financial year where the National Football Association of Swaziland (NFAS) was pampered with an E8.7 million allocation for the national team.
A source close to the FA disclosed that the association filed a claim to the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs for the outstanding last quarter allocation for the 2017/18 budget and that the process had been finalised.
“The transaction has taken place after both parties submitted the paperwork needed for the acquisition of the Sihlangu quarterly claim,” the source said.
The allocation will come in handy for the team which according to insiders at the FA is expected to go to camp during the next FIFA week which kicks off on March 27 under interim coach Anthony Mdluli following the sacking of Dutch mentor Pieter De Jongh by the football mother body.
Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Under Secretary (US) Nhlanhla Motsa could only confirm that there has been an allocation of money to the FA recently.
“We have released some money to the FA, but I would have to verify the exact figure with the accounts department,” he said.
Meanwhile, FA CEO Frederick Mngomezulu commenting through the organisation’s Marketing and Communications Officer Muzi Radebe was reluctant to confirm the allocation. He said all they knew now was that the Sihlangu allocation had been increased as announced during the budget speech delivered by Minister of Finance Martin Dlamini.
