COMMONWEALTH-BOUND SQUAD EAGER FOR VICTORY

MHLUME – The Commonwealth Games-bound squad has a desire to hoist the country’s flag in Australia in April.


The country will send a team of 10 athletes to the games starting April 4 to 15th in Gold Coast, Australia.
The team was engaged in a team building exercise from Friday to yesterday at Mhlume Country Club where they shared their experiences and tips to achieve big in the games.


Sibusiso ‘Swazi Bolt’ Matsenjwa speaking on behalf of the team said they all have a desire to win and make the country proud.
He said they were not only going there to participate but to compete for honoures.


“This is a young team that still has s future in hand. Majority of the team members will be making their debut in such highly profiled games but that will not deter us from fighting for victories in our sorting codes,” he said.


The team was bid farewell by the Swaziland Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (SOCGA) President Peter Shongwe who was accompanied by some board members.


Shongwe then declared the squad as ‘Team Swaziland’ from now onwards. He said they squad had to go to Australia sharing one goal, that of making the country proud.
