SANDILE, ‘TOKYO’ NEED TO SCORE BRACE EACH
MBABANE – Melusi ‘Melo’ Mkhwanazi of Manzini Sundowns might win the Ingwenyama Cup top scorer award despite that his side was eliminated in the quarter-finals.
Melusi tops the scorers’ chart with four goals and speedy Mbabane Swallows striker Sandile Hlatshwako along with crafty Mathokoza ‘Tokyo’ Tfwala need to score at least a brace to dislodge him in Sunday’s eagerly awaited ‘Buckle Up’ final at Somhlolo National Stadium.
Swallows, fresh from rewriting history books by becoming the first Swazi side to reach the group stages of Africa’s premier club tournament, the Total CAF Champions League, play Leopard in a repeat of the Ingwenyama Cup debut tournament in 2016.
Sandile and ‘Tokyo’ are on three goals apiece and can make a say on who wins the E10 000 prize.
Melusi scored a brace in each of Sundowns’ first two games in the tournament before the ‘Kappa Boys’ were eliminated by a ‘Tokyo’ solitary strike in the quarter-finals, a result that saw Sundowns fail to reach the last four of the richly sponsored tournament for the first time in its short-as-sneeze history.
“What is on my mind is a win on Sunday. Maybe I will score one or two goals but winning the trophy is the most important,” said Sandile.
