MANZINI – A 10-year-old Nkosephayo Vilakati was first to snatch a gold medal in the 1st Swazi Tigers Taekwondo Championships yesterday.

The Swazi Tigers artist defeated Lethu Nkambule for Excelsior in the final of the Uder-10 category. Vilakati stole the show with his movements and kicks that were always on target against Nkambule who took home the silver medal.
The kadets and juniors were the first to take centre stage during the championships and they did not disappoint as they displayed a great standard of play.

Vilakati said he was inspired by his grandfather Bheki Vilakati to play taekwondo.
“I’m happy to have won today and I dedicate the gold medal to my grandfather who encouraged me to play taekwondo as he was also a shining start in the sport. I will continue to work hard and make sure that I always win during the tournament and represent the country in international tournaments,” he said.
