MBABANE – Mbabane Swallows’ CAF’s next opponents, Tunisia’s Etoile Sahel are ranked 4th in Africa.

According to Wikipedia.org/caf the teams are ranked according to their performance in the domes competitions and in international tournaments.

In the CAF Champions’ League Group D, Tunisia’s Etoile Sahel are ranked fourth in Africa while Zambia’s Zesco United are on the seventh spot with Mbabane Swallows are on position 22 and Angola’s Desportive 1 de Agosto are 32th in Africa.

The Tunisian are not only leaders in the CAF Champions’ League Group D but also in the latest CAF rankings with 40.5 points while the Zambian side is on 25 points. The ‘Birds’ have accumulated nine points while the Angolan side have five points.

Interestingly in the CAF Group D Etoile are also table toppers with four points after two games. They managed to beat Zambia’s Zesco United 2-1 and were held by the Angolan side to a 1-1 draw. On the other hand, the capital city giants are second with four points after two games. They are second in the group due to inferior goal difference to the Tunisians.

Swaziland Football Coaches Association (SFCA) secretary Musa Mamba said rankings sometimes are misleading noting that Mbabane Swallows equally stand a chance to beat the Tunisians.

“Swallows have been doing well in this tournament. For example they managed to hold Zesco United in their own backyard while they are highly ranked. This means they can also do well against Etoile,” Mamba said.

The Thabo ‘Koki’ Vilakati led-charges played to a 1-all draw against Zambia’s Zesco United while and managed to annex maximum points beating   Agosto 1-0 two weeks ago at Mavuso Sports Centre.
