MBABANE – Like his name, Machawe stood up to be a hero last Saturday when he cut short Flag Nxumalo’s seven-game unbeaten run in the Black Ball Open Singles League.

Their game was part of several others on the day, and not one had expected Nxumalo to slip against Machawe Maseko and his other rival Norman Khoza at the Manzini Pool Club. However, Maseko, who was on mid-table before the match with his rival comfortable at the summit, shocked all to a 7-6 victory.

His big win also took him to fourth on the table 15 points after nine games, and is also level with the second and third-placed Menzi Ngomane and Romeo Da Silva respectively. Nxumalo managed to regroup and beat Norman Khoza 7-5.

He, nonetheless, remains at the top of the table on 24 points, nine points away from the trio under him. He noticeably has played three games more than Ngomane and two ahead of Da Silva.
