IRAN’S DRAW SPOILS PORTUGUESE PARTY
MBABANE – The 1-all draw result for Portugal against Iran in the 2018 FIFA World Cup Group B clash was hard to predict.
Before the clash, a majority of fans predicted an easy win for the Cristiano Ronaldo-captained side but he failed to inspire his side as he missed from the spot kick. His spot kick was saved by Iran goalkeeper Munir, much to the disappointment of his fans.
During the Multichoice Swaziland broadcast of the games at Lugogo Sun, no fan predicted the 1-all draw out of the over 30 entries collected. Some fans even decided to pick Brazil as the team to win the World Cup in Russia.
Noah Ngcamphalala said Brazil is now his favourite to win the Cup.
He said Portugal relies too much on Ronaldo and when he fails to deliver, they do not stand on their own.
Sambulo Zwane said Brazil is full of stars that won’t be beaten easily, especially in the knockout stage. Brazil is yet to play their last group H match where they face Serbia.
Bibole Agalamulme said she doubts Portugal will win the World Cup after the disappointing draw against Iran.
She said she bet her money on Spain who also settled for a 2-all draw against Morocco, to make it through as group B leaders. Portugal and Spain progressed to the last 16 stage at the expense of the hard fighting Morocco and Iran.
Multichoice Swaziland PRO Dumisile Masuku said they will continue to mobilise fans to watch the World Cup together. She said all the games were live on SuperSport sports channels.
