MBABANE – All roads lead to Mavuso Sports Centre this afternoon, as top legends of South African football are set to roll back the years when they take on their local counterparts.

The match has been organised to formally bid farewell to local soccer legend Sibusiso ‘Spoko’ Dlamini, who previously played for Kaizer Chiefs and Black Leopards in South Africa. This explains the high number of Kaizer Chiefs players in the SA Legends side.
This is the much anticipated Spoko Testimonial match, and definitely, it must live up to expectations!

Modern tactics have eliminated key components of the game in tsamayas, shibobos, backheels, and a lot of African flair styles that became synonymous with the game prior to the millennium. All the players who will take to the field this afternoon only know one brand of football, the flare type, and it invokes a variety of skills.

The days when Thabo ‘Tsiki Tsiki’ Mooki played for Kaizer Chiefs were days when the tsamaya was most popular and totally legal. Mooki’s game was comprehended by that of the likes of Doctor ‘16V’ Khumalo, John ‘Shoes’ Mosheou, Jabu Pule, and other Kaizer Chiefs players. The likes of Joseph ‘Duku Duku’ Makhaya and Lebohang ‘Cheeseboy’ Mokoena at Orlando Pirates specialised in this type of game.

It was their strong point, and with it they tore defences apart, delivered pinpoint crosses, and scored goals that left many fans in awe. Both Mokoena and Makhanya will be part of the SA legends team this afternoon, and most definitely, entertainment will not be in short supply.

Mamelodi Sundowns’ Hlompho Kekana will spice up proceedings as the only active player to appear for the South Africans and Mbabane Swallows’ Wonder ‘Samba Jive’ Nhleko is expected to be the ‘Red Bull’ for the locals.

The rest of the Swazi Legends side is set to include the likes of Sifiso ‘Barnes’ Mkhulisi, Bongani ‘Ndezi’ Masangane, Wonder ‘Samba Jive’ Nhleko, Njabuliso Simelane, Siza ‘King Pele’ Dlamini, and others.
